I started having T a little over a month ago. For me, it was probably due to an over dose of ibuprofen which I took during a bad sinus infection. I should
have read the bottle when it said only 6 pills per 24 hours. Anyway, the T is causing me a great deal of depression and anxiety. Are there any tips or
recommendations that any of you with this problem can give?

I got my T from taking too much of the WONDER DRUG aspirin....Everything that can cause problems is in very fine print on the label .. Why? Because if they
made it plain as day nobody would buy it........ I always get a kick out of the drug commericals on TV... The honest ones at the end tell the side effects of
their product......It is usually worse than the original cause you're trying to remedy!!!! I've learned the hard way about OTC drugs or any drugs they
are not natural..Never again for me !!!!!!!!

Your so right Crestline, but let me add also...i've notice to many people playing "DRUG STORE DOCTORS"..I've been against many OTC
DRUGS..for a few reasons(but as we all know..the drug business is making alot of money and kick backs)first to many otc drugs to choose from, many people
don't even know the drugs names and still buy the drug or drugs.its like pick one drug and pick another drugAlso whats important the SIDE EFFECTS of the
otc drugs, people may have high blood pressure and don't even know it.Many of the cold drugs are not good for people with high blood pressure and etc.As i
said many times before.drugs are not candy and IMO,,OTC DRUGS ARE LIKE TAKING CANDY.I'm not saying that drugs that the doctor gives are good either,im very
caution with any drugs,Drugs is a big money business, but the side effects are worse...Nick... |

We have the power of the Internet to look up the listed side effects of any drug... My parents didn't have this incredible resource at their fingertips...
If you look at an aspirin bottle it says in general : Stop taking this medication immediately if you have ringing in the ears and call your doctor... Now they
don't say this medication is ototoxic to the ears and can cause permeate hearing loss and tinnitus...Which they should tell the hard fact and not try to
hide it by not explaining the devastating outcome until you look it up on the Internet. I always thought the worse thing aspirin can do is cause bleeding or
death if you take the whole bottle. My parents and past age groups (I'm 54) that didn't have the Internet probably never new they got their tinnitus
from a drug they used because the information was not easy to obtain as now. And also didn't have this or other types of support forms to comfort and tell
them they are not alone with this ringing and what happened to you also happened to me.. I wonder how much was covered up until the Internet started to put
people together with the same problems and then found the root cause by I took or did the same thing you did not knowing??
The doctors in my parents time frame new little and could not cure anything. I don't think that has changed in my lifetime either.. There are very few things they can cure.. Now ask them about treating the symptoms and here comes a battalion of anti depressant to the rescue ... That is the best they can offer...We still suffer with any type of ailment..

Forgive yourself for inadvertently causing your tinnitus. I think that most of the people here have done similar things that have led to their own condition -
including myself - and that if we had to do it over again, we'd do it differently. I also feel like it's one of the things that drives many people to
desperately seek a cure, driven by some underlying guilt to correct the mistake that they've made. But the best thing that we can do for ourselves is to
forgive and get on with our life.

I wonder--do people who caused their tinnitus have a harder time living with it than those who got it without doing anything?

My recent MRI showed remaining sinus infection. ENT prescribed had prescribed Levaquin. Well, after 1 pill my ringing went thru the roof. Anyone else know
anything about this antibiotic? Probably going to DC to drug and call the ENT back.

In my opinion Reph, they do. I think that the feeling of guilt comes into it, and that can be a dangerous feeling. Freddie. |

I agree wholeheartedly with Freddy. Then there are cases like mine - where people spend years trying to determine whether or not they are at fault.

It seems we judge ourselves by the outcome of things. If a person skis all the time and loves it, and never injures himself, he thinks he's had a wonderful
time and a fulfulled life. If he breaks a leg or ends up paralyzed, he says to himself that he shouldn't have skiied. So if you listened to music too loud
or long or went to concerts, or hunted or did anything enjoyable, and didn't know about t, then how can you say you are at fault? I used to figure skate
and listen to my walkman a few hours a week above the music at the ice rink. I saw the warning on the instructions. I was watching to see if my hearing changed
and it didn't for nine years. I lost very little hearing from that. But I did stop doing it and I got t 5 years later The warning never mentioned t, and I
never heard of it. I heard of ringing in the ears as a transient problem. I feel terrible that I was so ignorant. But I was. And I can't change it. I could
have taken so many risks on the ice, but I didn't, I was soooo careful. Well, you can't know everything. "The best laid plans of mice and
men" go astray.

tk, do you really think the music caused your tinnitus with a time lag of five years?

Troy what you are going through so early in the game is unfortunately common. Tinnitus is something that is very difficult to overcome right away. Just stay the course and understand that it does get better. You will be fine. |
