I had the Baha implant done 3 yrs. ago,I was the first patient of my ENT to have it done without being put to sleep they froze the area and I stayed absolutely still while they did the drilling and the surgery went well my ENT was amazed that I could lie so still and not move but she had a drill in her  hand and i wasn't going to have it go any where than where it was supposed to.

I then had to wait 3 months for it to heal and then the abutement was put onto the titanium post in your skull bone the surgery is done about an inch or so away from the back of your ear there is a small dent left where all the fatty tissue is taken away from the area around the post and no hair ever grows back there.

The Baha is like a small square hearing aid and fits on the abutement,you snap it on and off.It does makes sound if you touch it just like a hearing aid.I like you have lost my hearing in my right ear.
I went thru this with high expectations that it was going to be a miracle for me but unfortunately it was not what I expected and I gave it back to my ENT and I am now stuck with a post in my bone and a small dent in my head if I wear my hair up it does not cover the dent all that much.

There is another lady from this board who had it done she wears short hair and lets it show and she works as a hairdresser she also lost her hearing in one ear from surgery and she loves hers she would not be without it.
