Posts: 1318 09/02/11 3:26 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I am scheduled for an endoscopy next month, this is when they put the camera down your throat and into the esophogus and upper stomach. Should i be worried about this procedure increasing my tinnitus, or any of the medications they give me? Thanks.

Posts: 8 09/02/11 7:11 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi Bob,I had it done in May and my T actually went way down may be 50-60% for 45 hours so almost 2 days which is much better than lidocaine.I hope it happens to you too.I asked my doc if he used propofol,he said no,but gave me names of 2 drugs he used saying that it is not the drugs directly but rather the ratio of them used.Hope it helps,regards Peter

Here the option is Xylocaine spray (I assume to reduce the gagging) in the throat or nothing. I've tried both. Once in Belgium and once here in Denmark. I'm to have one more. I prefer to have it done without anything so I walk away shortly after I came with no effects from meds. It is true that the gagging is a bit unpleasant, but the procedure is to fast, and not painful. I wouldn't want to be put to sleep for that. Susanne Susanne

It's a piece of cake and nothing to be scared about at all. Relax. It's a really short procedure, Bob 57 and the gagging isn't bad. To me it was just a bit embarassing the first time, because of the air that came out of the mouth. Don't fear the gagging. If you relax it's nothing and it's over so quickly. I'm no fan of going to doctors or hospitals at all, and no hero, so if I can have it done (was indeed scared the first time but only till they started) without any spray or meds to make me drowsy/sleep, then there's nothing to fear. Posts: 13715 09/06/11 5:46 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Bob, all folk dont get the gagging sensation, I did not. I too have Barrets Syndrom and take a tablet each day to lessen the acid in the stomach, it acually works on the acid pump in the body. You will be OK. freddie

However, it abdominal pain persists you should definitely call your doctor! My dad's a doctor, and he said I may feel uncomfortable for a couple days, so not to worry.

My dad's a doctor, and he said I may feel uncomfortable for a couple days, so not to worry. are you sure it was from the top and not the bottom what kind of "surgery" did you have? did they just look down there or was something more done? i don't remember ever having any delayed discomfort from my endoscopy's . now i know some one who had a lot of discomfort from a colonoscopy. but it went away in time. ps. this thread is from last year.
