Posts: 135 05/26/12 2:31 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None i have not any support not knowing if im crazy a month back i had my ear cleaned went home and heard weird things btween online and found it could be tinnitus and that the beain makes noise its might not be in the ear and since then been stressed been to er doctor and slight hearing loss but nothing out of normal im 17 with no answers to whats going on

Sometimes when i have my ears cleaned out,,I notice a slight spike in the T..My guess is for me is that alittle wax is a good thing.. i think you will be fine in a few days.. You are very normal with something you don't understand at this time..Try to change your reaction to the noise...The Best,,,Layne

Posts: 27336 05/28/12 3:00 PM Admin Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Okay, I'll try to explain that. It isn't simple. The brain and the ear are parts of the auditory system. They work together. You wouldn't hear anything if you didn't have ears. You also wouldn't hear anything if you had ears but you didn't have a brain. Signals come in through the ears, and the brain turns them into a sensation of sound. That's for regular noises. I mean the ones that come in from the outside, like people talking and cars going by. Music. Dogs barking. Tinnitus is different. Sometimes the cause of tinnitus is obviously in the ear. Here's one example. A person with an ear infection might get tinnitus in that ear because of inflammation or whatever. Even so, the ear isn't doing this by itself. The brain does its job by interpreting signals from the ear and sending them back so it feels like the noise is coming from the ear. In this sense, tinnitus is sort of in the brain. Sometimes there's nothing obviously wrong with a person's ears but the person has tinnitus anyway. Some experts think that a brain can produce tinnitus even when the ears are all right.

I don't think it has any other effect regarding your intellectual capacity to think, reason, etc. It's not something you should be worrying about What I don't understand is why your parents, if what you say is true, aren't being more supportive & helping you get through this in your time of need. You're 17, they should be researching tinnitus, coming on this board searching for answers, helping you cope & keeping you calm What are your parents saying to you about this?

Posts: 135 05/28/12 5:29 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	moz and reph thanks for the help i have been to 3 ENT with my parents i have slight hearing loss the ENT i am seeing now is good but he tells me dont go online he said tinnitus is different for everyone it is like a headache people get them but they are triggered by other factors no person is the same your T my come on to certain foods or other things back to what i saying about my ear ever since getting my ears cleaned a month and a half ago my hearing is not the same i did have lots of wax in there. my ear was hurting from using an ear cleaning kit from the store and water i guess got trapped in there. but after coming home from the ER i heard things different whsitle sounds from cars i could hear things much louder i went online find out it could be tinnitus and my aniexty rose found out it could be in the brain then stared this whole issue with me hearing sounds and stuff i know i get a bit paranoid knowing my hearing is not the same i compare my sound sometimes to a little kid screaming but it could be over thinking sound also is tinitus any sound or is it perticular sounds i heard that it can be any sound not just whistling whoosing or ring sound

Posts: 1286 05/28/12 6:13 PM TSMB Supporter Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	OK, if I'm reading you right, you're saying you got your ears cleaned properly by an ENT, & you're hearing things louder & some noises you haven't really heard in awhile. That's simply due to the cleaning removing the built up wax & your hearing has improved. That's not tinnitus, that sounds like normal hearing If you have an odd, foreign sounding noise inside your head, it's probably tinnitus. You've got to be able to distinguish between outside the head, everyday sounds & a particular, distinct, odd noise inside the head. You should easily be able to tell the difference You've got to quit worrying so much & start thinking rationally. Anytime you clean your ears out after years of wax build up, it will sound weird, because you're not used to some sounds you now hear again. Take it easy, think & hopefully you'll figure out what's what

Posts: 135 05/28/12 6:38 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	well moz i do hear whistle sound my ear was not cleaned by and ENT i said i went to the ear they used peroxide and a syringe after that thats when i went to the ENT but i do have hissing in my ear when it quiet i never metiond it cause i does not really bother me i try to tell myself the hissing i some what natural but is tinnitus other noises or a few not sure people say tinnitus can be any noise that is constant am i correct

If you hear hissing or whistling when nothing near you is making the noise, it's tinnitus. i said i went to the ear they used peroxide and a syringe after that thats when i went to the ENT You went to the ER and they cleaned your ears with peroxide, and later you went to an ENT, is that right? Did you have this noise before your ears were cleaned?
