Yesterday, I was walking on Madison Avenue, ( a very chic upscale Avenue in Manhattan), one block from the Met Museum, on my way to my crosstown 79th Street bus.
It was a lovely sunny day, and I had just been to an informative lecture and chatted with some interesting people and I was feeling good.
Ahead of me, almost in the middle of the street, was a panhandler, and as if my frequent wont, I opened my purse to get out my wallet. He caught my eye and saw that I was looking to give him something. I looked through my wallet and I had only 10's and 20's....not one single single. I looked at him and said, "Sorry, I only have big bills".
He looked me straight in the eye and said, "Don's worry. I can give you change".
It cracked me up, but I laughed and said, "next time".
Only in New York.................
