Many feel that way about therapy and its privacy kind of makes it deep, dark secret, adding to the mystique. Anyway, it would be good to hear more, as you volunteered. Good luck. Stubby: What was the reason CBT was nixed -- and did some other therapy help, or was psychological therapy simply not recommended? By the way, I have absolutely no vested interest in cognitive (CBT) or other psychological therapies; I simply feel that sharing what we know is a very good thing to increase the body of knowledge needed to make informed decisions. Posts: 294 06/09/05 3:53 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Dear friends, I will be happy to report my feelings about CBT. I have no problem sharing my experiences with all of you. My SHL and tinnitus began during a very STRESSFUL time in my life. I literally lost my hearing on the first anniversary date of my Moms death. She and I were very close and she lived in Charleston, South Carolina and guess where I was on this date? Charleston...... visiting my daughter, who attends college there. I am also dealing with my younger son graduating from high school this year and heading off to college. Empty nest is soon approaching. I also was thinking of changing professions (i have taught pre-K for 15 years) This, as well as possibly moving to another state, were all contributing factors of my increased stress. Then, WHAM, I lost my hearing and got T. I had to stop working because the noise level was too high, the anxiety was and still is tough to handle, and life still goes on! My son will be graduating and moving on, I need to find a new profession which doesnt bother my reactive T, and I have to deal with my loss of my Mom and my Dad, something I have never really addressed before. That's what my "therapy" is going to be all about and learing how to accept T as being part of my life and finding a way to de-stress my life. Right now it seems an impossible undertaking. I still cry everyday. But I will keep you all posted on my reactions to CBT. Sorry to be so long and "personal", but sometimes its good to know more about eachother, other than just tinnitus! Posts: 184 06/09/05 6:51 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	TINEDITOR: I don't know why the psycologist said that he couldn't help me with CBT. I was refered by my psychaitrist. When I went and saw the psycologist, I had a questionaire about an hour long to fill out and then he talked to me for about 45 min. I didn't know anything until I went and saw my psychaitrist about 3 wks later, that's when I found out what the psycologist said. It kinda set me back a little bit. I told the psycologist everything relating to this " INTRUSIVE DISORDER" about the way it effects me. I don't know how he came to the conclusion about not being able to help me, but OH WELL, That saves me a little money, not having to pay another DR.(HA). I might be able to afford some of Freddie's "Pidgeon Poo" to make the "T" go away. Still a mystery to me on why he couldn't help. Stubby
