I am brand new here. I suffered from pulsatile tinnitus for over three years. It presented itself as a very slight buzz that got extremely loud and turned into a pulsating noise in a matter of a few months. Being from the NYC area, I began my fruitless search for help. Not Yale University, not Columbia, no one had a diagnosis. The condition literally crippled me. I couldn't sleep, I was anxious, and miserable.
I even went through a neck surgery that removed an enlarged lymph node near my carotid artery, it changed nothing, I woke up from the surgery and the noise was still there. To make matters even worse, the lymph node biopsy came back showing there was lypmhoma cells. So I needed to be treated and evaluated by an oncologist. Keep in mind, I am in my mid forties, and the picture of health. Not really what I wanted to be dealing with at this stage of my life.
I felt I had to be persistent and not get too discouraged. So I continued on my path to find out what was causing this condition and how it could be resolved. I went to the University of Maryland Tinnitus clinic to be evaluated for TRT. While there I gave all my CT scan and MRI info to Dr David Eisenman to review. He noticed a "suspect area" near my right mastoid bone, it was a blood vessel returning from the brain that had a slight defect in it. To make this short last week I underwent the surgery to correct this defect. When I woke up, I realized that I was cured. 100% cured! No noise, nothing. Its been a week and I feel very confident that this terrible crippling condition has finally been resolved. My advice would be never to give up, never lose hope. Additionally, it is important to understand that it is imperative to be seen by a doctor at a major teaching hospital/university. These are the people who see this condition regularly.
Also there is no medicine, prescription or OTC that has been approved for the indication of T. Therefore, as desperate as it seems you are do not fall for the many "cures" being sold on the internet or anywhere else. To diagnose and treat Pulsatile Tinnitus, required advanced imaging technology, experience with this specific condition, and a cutting edge doctor who takes your complaint seriously.
My journey is over. I have my life back. There is nothing I would not do to help other people who suffer like I have.
