I am lucky enough to have a HiSonic and do find it helpful in reducing the noise level. WRT works the best!

Okay, here are the things I've tried starting with CLinics
Shea Clinic in Memphis Atlanta Ear Clinic in - you guessed it - Atlanta Martha Entimenn (sp) Clinic in NY Dartmouth Hitchcock Pai Clnic in New Hampshire licocaine dexamethasone treatment electrical stimulation steroids gentamyacin injections Meniett Device Ring Stop John of Ohio Regimen of supplements neurontin Charles Vald CDs Amino Acids Ginko Klonopin Xnax Lexapro Effexor neurontin morphine lipoflavids self-hypnosis tapes acupuncture yoga cranial-sacral therapy Sound enrichment therapy - expensive!!! T-gone Elly's exercises topamax T-gone "ignoring it" cymbalta allegra I am sure there are more, but can't think of them at the moment Nothing helped- the drugs help with the pain - not the tinntus- so I still take the xanax and morphine Lots of time and money- nobody was going to tell me there isn't a cure!!! Well, 5 years later I am poorer and wiser and know that for me at least, there is no cure. I try to keep as busy as the pain allows me And for those of you who say tinnitus does not cause pain- sorry but it does for me. Those menieres symptoms like fullness and roaring t and the thumping can cause a lot of pain Bottom line- I'm still here living each day the best I can. Some are better than others. I am fortunate to have the most wonderful husband and friends all of whom are so understanding, kind, and helpful. So I can't complain Gayle |

Laetrile is a colorless liquid pressed from the soft bitter insides of apricot pits. In Sweden, you can buy the stuff in the grocery store for about the price of almond extract, and you use it in baking much as you would any other extract.
In Mexico, you can buy it for fifty dollars a drop to "cure" your fatal cancer. Of course, it doesn't cure anything. All the evidence demonstrates that it is a cruel fraud. But since no one else has anything at all to offer them, terminal patients accept the claims of the laetrile peddlers, no matter how outrageous. People who are desperate enough don't look very hard at the evidence. |

Welcome to the Emory Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Center Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your interest in the Emory Tinnitus & Hyperacusis Center. The Center is designed specifically for treating people with tinnitus and hyperacusis (decreased sound tolerance). Our goal is to evaluate, diagnose, and treat tinnitus and/or hyperacusis so effectively that it will no longer be an issue. Our treatment protocol follows Tinnitus Retratining Therapy (TRT) developed by Professor Pawel J. Jastreboff, Ph.D., Sc.D., who joined The Emory Clinic January 1999 as the Director of our Tinnitus & Hyperacusis Center. TRT is based on a neurophysiological model of tinnitus, describing how the brain reacts to the tinnitus signal. Although a full diagnostic work-up should be done to rule out any medically important causes of the tinnitus, the treatment works equally well regardless of the etiology of the tinnitus. Patients may opt to schedule a short consultation with one of our staff to address your questions and concerns before making a final decision to engage in TRT, or patients may choose to schedule an evaluation and associated appointments to begin treatment for TRT immediately. If you would like to schedule an appointment regarding your tinnitus and/or hyperacusis, please call our office at (404) 778-3109 to receive an information packet enclosed with an introductory questionnaire. Once we have received your completed questionnaire we will contact you to schedule your appointment. Information regarding directions and area hotel accomodations will be provided once we have finalized your appointment. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact the Center, and we will be happy to answer your questions. We look forward to meeting you in person! Pawel J. Jastreboff, Ph.D., Sc.D. I'm still trying to figure out what's so funny about Whoopie Retraining Therapy. Is this some of kind of in-joke?

Hi TomZed,
Back when WRT was mentioned (tongue-in-cheek) there was ALOT of discussion regarding TRT. It was meant in good spirit, and usually gets a mention now and then around here

sam-e is susposed to be helpful in that it helps you not notice
t as much. t= when silence is a stranger it baffles me- how someting that is listed as a serious side-effect can not be a diseasei believe t is a disease because of the harmful psychological side effects it has |

Michael: Here's one for your list. Er Ming Zuo Ci Wan, commonly known as Tsu Zu. I use it with accupuncture for my T with good results. Without it, I have huge flare ups. Take 8 pills, three times a day and a bottle of 200 costs about $3.50, available at any Chinese herb store in your community. Good Luck

It seems like there are so many products being sold on the net now for everything. I found natural supplements that treat anxiety and depression as well as prescription medication. I recommend those who are depressed and shocked by tinnitus and hyperacusis to try them.
