Hello all - Today my naturopath suggested I try cranial-sacral therapy for my tinnitus. She said it's the only thing any of her patients have told her has
helped relieve their tinnitus.
Has anyone tried cranial-sacral and if so, what results (if any) did you see? Thanks in advance, Rachel |

Hello Rachel :-)
I tried CST twice. First time within the first year of getting tinnitus, and the second time two or three years ago. (I've had tinnitus since 2001) I used a different practitioner on both occasions, and I had around five or six sessions with each therapist. Sadly, it made no difference to my tinnitus either way. Hi Rachel,
It may help your tinnitus indirectly by helping you to relax. When we're not anxious, our tinnitus doesn't seem as loud. I don't think it can directly help the tinnitus itself though. Susan |

Hi- I too tried CST probably about 5 times. I'm with the rest of the group on posting in this thread with regards to it having no direct result in stopping
the tinnitus but between that and about 20 sessions of accupuncture I did feel that with all the anxiety/stress I was holding in - both those therapies allowed
my body to 'regroup' and get some emotional healing out of the way. I truly believe that a variety of eastern medicine options are still worthy of
doing but you should somehow prepare yourself to change your expectations of what the results may turn out to be. For example after a number of sessions for
accupuncture I did come to the conclusion that form was not going to 'stop' the sound but that while my insurance would still cover the sessions it was
still worthy of going to get the rest of my body in a better frame. It truly did help!! (in that regard). My insurance did not cover the CST at all. And the
only reason why my insurance covered the accupuncture is because my accupuncturist was clever in what she communicated to the insurance agency.

I see cranial-sacral therapy as the same as standing under a high pressure shower.

Rachel --
Craniosacral therapy is used to reduce stress and anxiety, and some tinnitus patients report a decrease in anxiety following these treatments. However, craniosacral therapy is usually provided by therapists who have little understanding of the neurophysiology of tinnitus or specialist knowledge of audiology. So, at best, it might help relieve tinnitus-related stress, but it will not remove or decrease tinnitus itself. rob x 2 |

I had several "treatments" - no difference. Maybe it depends on the practitioner, but I thought it was "colored water" (to quote John
Lennon).

I tried it after I had 't' for a month. I did about 6 sessions & I guess I had a different treatment as they beat up on my head where it hurt.
There was nothing relaxing about the treatment.
It did not do me any good but I am sure they spent the $1,000 in good health. I should have known because insurance won't cover it & they always demanded cash when 'treated'. Another scam as far as I am concerned. Reno |

Thanks to all for replies. They confirm my suspicion that cranio-sacral is probably a lot like other "alternative therapies" - can be very relaxing
mentally and physically, but otherwise of dubious efficacy. I may give it a try for the relaxation - I can always use more of that, and like a few of you said,
that in itself may alleviate the T somewhat - but it will depend on cost. Thanks again!
